This ½ cent yellow green stamp from the 1894 Wuchang Treaty Port Definitive (I) issue represents one of the earliest locally produced Chinese stamps under the Qing Dynasty’s treaty port system. Printed by the Shanghai Lithographic Society using lithography, the design features a traditional rice field scene, symbolizing agricultural abundance and the agrarian foundations of Chinese society at the time. Issued as part of a daily definitive series, this stamp has variable perforation between 11½ and 12½ and was intended for use on printed matter and local correspondence within the Wuchang jurisdiction. It is cataloged as Michel CN-WU 2A, Scott WU 2, and Stanley Gibbons CN-WU 2. Condition: Mint hinged with clean gum and well-preserved margins. Estimate "$45 – 60".
