Tibet བོད་ལྗོངས། bod ljongs
Tibet's postal history is unique and began developing around 1912 with its own stamps, often printed in Lhasa using simple woodblocks or metal plates on coarse, handmade Tibetan paper. The system reflected local aesthetics but was also influenced by British and Chinese interests. After Tibet was incorporated into the People's Republic of China and became the Tibet Autonomous Region (西藏自治区) in 1965, its postal system was integrated into the Chinese network. China’s influence brought modernization and marked the end of Tibet’s independent postal operations.
