This group of postal tax stamps from Macao, issued between 1953 and 1981, features a consistent charitable theme centered around the image of Our Lady of Mercies surrounded by angels and supplicants. These stamps, denominated in avos, were printed by Imprensa Nacional, Macau, using offset printing on greenish to cream-colored paper without gum, and have a perforation of 11½ x 11. The vertical-format design measures 29 x 46 mm and includes inscriptions in both Portuguese and Chinese. Among the group is the 10 avos orange surcharged issue (Scott RA20A) which shows a bold black overprint over a struck-out "15A" denomination. The other values include 1A green (RA16), 2A magenta (RA17), and 50A rose on buff (RA13). The stamps reflect Portuguese colonial iconography and religious charity, emblematic of mid-20th century Macao postal philanthropy. All items presented are mint and well-preserved, with light handling marks only on the 50A. Estimate "$50 – 65"
