This complete group of four engraved stamps issued by the People’s Republic of China on July 1, 1950, represents overprinted revaluations of earlier designs featuring Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of modern China. Printed by both the Beijing Chinese People's Printing Works and the Central Printing Co., these stamps were released during the transitional period when the new Communist government reused stock from the preceding regime. Each stamp measures 24 x 26 mm, printed by line engraving with line perforation gauge 14, and notably lacks gum as issued. The set includes the following denominations and colors: 50 dollars green (Scott CN 35), 50 dollars brown (Scott CN 36), 100 dollars blue (Scott CN 38a), and 400 dollars green (Scott CN 45). Thematically they honor Dr. Sun Yat-sen as a statesman, physicist, and revolutionary figure, reflecting the early PRC's complex political inheritance. These stamps are culturally significant for their use of pre-Communist imagery adapted to serve the new regime’s economic and postal needs. All four stamps are in mint, ungummed condition, well-centered and crisply printed. Estimate "$260 – 320"
