Issued on January 1, 1949, this full sheet of fifteen tax stamps surcharged for definitive postal use features the $1500 on $50 dark blue issue from the Hankow Gold Yuan overprint series. Originally depicting transport themes including airplanes, trains, and ships, the stamp was lithograph-printed without watermark and perforated 12½. The blue surcharge reflects emergency revaluation during China’s hyperinflation under the collapsing Nationalist regime. Catalogued as Scott 934, Michel CN-IM 985, Yvert 772, and Stanley Gibbons 1126, this mint never hinged sheet shows full original gum, sharp overprints, and uniform centering across all positions. A scarce large-format survivor from a volatile monetary period. Estimate "$160 – 190"
