This commemorative issue from 1948 marks the third anniversary of Formosa’s (Taiwan) retrocession to China following Japanese occupation. Depicting the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Peiping, the stamps were printed in red and violet using gravure printing by the Central Engraving and Printing Works. The denominations are 500,000 and 1,000,000 Chinese dollars, reflecting hyperinflationary conditions. Both stamps are perforated 14 and were issued in quantities of 1.5 and 2 million respectively. The design emphasizes national pride and cultural reintegration, portraying one of the nation's key historical landmarks in formal architectural style. Presented here as mint never hinged blocks of four with full original gum and margin selvage, each block is well centered and fresh, with no faults. Cataloged as Scott IM786–787, Michel CN-IM 840–841, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 1003–1004, Yvert CN-IM 624–625, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 1193–1194. Estimate "$180 – 220"
