This full sheet of 16 stamps was issued on May 18, 1948, during the final phase of China's hyperinflation period, and belongs to the overprinted airmail series featuring an aircraft flying above the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing. Originally printed in blue by Dah Tung Book Co. and Dah Yeh Printing Co. in Shanghai, the stamps were later overprinted with a bold black boxed surcharge “10000.00” representing 10,000 Chinese dollars in a new currency scale. Along the right side of each stamp appears the vertical overprint "改作航空票" (Reassigned for Airmail Use). The design captures a symbolic view of national pride, with the mausoleum of the Republic's founding father framed against a sweeping aerial landscape. The lithographic print method and line perforation 14 are consistent with emergency printings of the time. These stamps were issued without gum, a typical characteristic of late-1940s Chinese inflation-era postal releases. Catalogued under Michel CN-IM 856, Scott C61, Yvert PA44, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 1028, and China Stamp Society AM100, this pristine MNH sheet is highly desirable both for its historical value and its visual impact.
