This complete mint never hinged set of nine postage due stamps was issued in January 1947 for use in Formosa (Taiwan) following its return to Chinese administration. Denominated from 50 to 2000 Chinese dollars, each stamp is printed in purple using lithography on thin paper without watermark. The design features stylized Chinese script in a formal typographic frame, aligning with official and utilitarian aesthetics typical of the period. Produced by Dah Tung Book Co., the stamps measure 25 x 20 mm and are perforated line 14. These issues served as vendormarks, facilitating collection of underpaid or unpaid mail during a time of severe inflation and currency fluctuation in postwar China. The ungummed nature of the set further reflects the production constraints of the time. A visually cohesive and historically important set, it illustrates both fiscal and postal realities in Formosa during the early Republican period.
