Issued on September 17, 1945, these two mint never hinged blocks of four originate from the Green Central National Currency (C.N.C.) Surcharge series, marking a critical transitional period in post-occupation China. The first block (Scott CN-IM 617, Michel CN-IM 645) is based on the orange 25 cent Dr. Sun Yat-sen definitive, originally printed by the American Bank Note Company, featuring green and black surcharges revaluing the stamp to $50,000 CNC. The second block (Scott CN-IM 620, Michel CN-IM 648) is based on the dull reddish-lilac 2 dollar Sun Yat-sen issue printed by Chung Hwa Book Co., and revalued similarly with surcharges to $400,000 CNC. Both were typographically overprinted to address extreme postwar hyperinflation and phase out currency issued by Wang Ching-wei’s puppet regime under Japanese control. These gravure-printed stamps, perforated 12½, reflect urgent economic and political restoration through philately. Their motifs continue to honor Dr. Sun Yat-sen, reinforcing national identity and stability. Exceptionally preserved as blocks of four with full original gum, no hinges, and bright, clean impressions. Estimate "$300 – 360"
