This block of four stamps originates from the Chinese Nationalist Government’s postwar series issued in 1945 under Wang Chin-wei's puppet regime. The original base stamp depicts Dr. Sun Yat-sen, engraved in a rich red purple tone with the denomination of 3 Chinese cents. Over this, a double surcharge was applied: first a black overprint of "20¢" and subsequently a green overprint converting the denomination to "10¢", executed in traditional Chinese characters with the black CNC control overprint applied vertically. The overprints represent a complex transitional period in China’s monetary system, reflecting rapid inflation and territorial control changes during and after World War II. Printed by Chung Hwa Book Co. using gravure printing, the stamp features line perforation 12½ and was issued without gum—a characteristic of many late wartime and early postwar issues. The subject, Sun Yat-sen, is portrayed in a formal bust, surrounded by ornate sunburst symbols and rosettes. This particular block shows fine color contrast and strong centering, with even margins and intact perforations. The reverse shows some aging and mild toning, typical of storage conditions in the era. Estimate: "$75 – 90"
