This 1943 issue from the Japanese occupation of Central China features a 1 fen orange stamp overprinted in black with a boxed surcharge of 15 Chinese dollars, part of the Central China wartime postal series. The underlying design, based on the Martyrs issue CN322, portrays a military-uniformed revolutionary figure framed by the emblem of the Republic and laurel wreath, intended to convey patriotic legitimacy under the Japanese-backed Reorganized National Government. The overprint reads "Temporary Price 15 Dollars" and represents inflationary postal adjustments during the turbulent period of Japanese control. The stamp was designed by Bohumil Heinz and printed by Commercial Press Ltd., Hong Kong, using gravure printing. It has no watermark and exhibits variable perforation. This mint never hinged block of four retains full original gum, with strong impression, vivid color, and excellent centering throughout. It is listed in major catalogs as Scott IM 9N74, Michel JP-CC 70, Stanley Gibbons JP-CC 89, Yvert et Tellier CN-OJ 65, China Stamp Society CN-IM SN104, and Chan JK58. As a multiple, this block holds both historical and aesthetic significance, reflecting the complex postal and political landscape of occupied East Asia. Estimate "$110 – 130"
