China 1930, surcharged Peking Print Junk issue, presenting a mint never hinged horizontal pair with red overprint reading "1" over the original 3 cents denomination. Printed in greenish slate via gravure by the Chinese Bureau of Engraving and Printing (PBMF), this issue forms part of the first surcharged series adjusting postal rates during early Republican financial fluctuations. The design features the iconic Junk sailing ship at sea, a symbolic image of traditional commerce and national identity. It was perforated line 14 and carries no watermark. The surcharge applied in red ink includes vertical characters for the new denomination and provisional nature.
