Issued in August 1929 as part of the Soviet Union’s third definitive issue, this 30 kopek stamp depicts a female factory worker, reflecting the early Soviet commitment to industrial labor and the prominent role of women in socialist production. The stamp is printed in grey-violet using typography on ordinary paper, with a comb perforation of 11¾ x 12¼ and an upright watermark of Greek border and rosettes. Measuring 18.5 x 26 mm, this issue was printed without restriction and released in standard sheets of 100 stamps, as seen here. It belongs to the era of Stalin’s First Five-Year Plan, when mass industrialization and propaganda celebrating the proletariat were central to Soviet identity. The design emphasizes productivity and the dignity of labor, both core themes of 1920s socialist realism.
