This mint never hinged full sheet of 100 stamps from the March 1923 “Workers” definitive issue of the German Reich features the 40 Mark denomination in a dark blue-green shade. The design by Paul Neu illustrates a symbolic agrarian scene with farmers operating a plow and a sowing machine, underscoring the vital role of agricultural labor in sustaining the Weimar economy during its inflationary peak. The stamp was part of a rapidly adjusted series necessitated by ongoing hyperinflation and escalating postage rates. Printed by the Reichsdruckerei in Berlin using typographic methods, the issue is characterized by a waffle-pattern watermark in upright position and precise comb perforation 14 x 14¼. The margins are intact and display denomination guides, positional indicators, and the imprint “Paul & Schwenke, Berlin W.30,” along with plate number “II 9295 23” at the bottom center, marking its issuance during the second printing phase in 1923. The sheet’s reverse is gummed and undisturbed, consistent with post-1920s Reich production quality. Listed as Michel DR 244a, Scott DE 227, Yvert et Tellier DR 180, Stanley Gibbons DR 255, and Unificato DR 180, this sheet represents a key item from the inflation period, both for its visual appeal and postal relevance. Condition Superb MNH full sheet with rich color, tight registration, and flawless gum; one small guide mark in upper right selvage. Estimate "$200 – 240".
