Issued on March 17, 1922, during the early Soviet period of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic (RSFSR), this 7,500 ruble definitive stamp features the allegorical design "Science and Arts," with a black surcharge overprint applied to an earlier base issue. Printed via lithography on normal paper without watermark, the design by Günther Reindorff portrays symbols of books, musical instruments, and scientific tools, reflecting the revolutionary state’s emphasis on education and cultural development. Rendered in dark grey-violet and black-violet, the stamp is imperforate and measures 29 by 34 mm. Catalogued as Michel RU 180axI (Scott RU 201, Yvert RU 168, Gibbons RU 250, Unificato RU 168, Zagorskiy RU-RSF 45), this lot consists of a complete mint never hinged sheet of 50 stamps with full original gum, free of faults. A rare intact sheet from the RSFSR’s first surcharge issue, it is historically significant and highly collectible. Estimate "$300 – 380"
