Issued in August 1921, this 40 Pfennig stamp from the German Empire’s “Numerals” definitive series features a clean numeral design in yellow-red to red-orange, printed typographically at the Reichsdruckerei in Berlin. Designed by Willi Geiger, the stamp measures 22 by 26 mm, is perforated comb 14 x 14¼, and is printed on paper with upright lozenge (diamond-shaped) watermark. Catalogued as Michel DR 163 (Scott DE 142, Yvert DR 143, Gibbons DR 158, AFA DR 163, Unificato DR 143), this item is a full mint never hinged sheet of 100 stamps, all with pristine gum, clean perforations, and no separation or folds. A bright and well-preserved inflation-era issue in complete sheet format. Estimate "$180 – 220"
