Issued in 1915 as part of the First Peking Print series, this 8 cent orange brown stamp features the iconic imagery of the junk ship, reaper, and the Hall of Classics—emblematic of China’s agricultural foundation, maritime legacy, and cultural heritage. Printed by the Chinese Bureau of Engraving and Printing (PBMF) using gravure on thick, stiff, hard paper, the stamp measures 22 x 24 mm and is perforated line 14. The 8 cent denomination was typically used for heavier domestic mail or international printed matter. As part of the early definitive series of the Republic of China, this stamp holds historical and cultural significance. It is listed as Scott CN-IM 230, though unlisted in Yvert et Tellier, and remains a desirable collectible from the Republican era. Condition is mint hinged with good color and sharp impression.
