This 6 cent stamp from the 1915 First Peking Print series marks one of the early definitive issues of the Republic of China, reflecting themes of national identity through imagery of a junk ship, reaper, and the Hall of Classics. Printed in scarlet red by the Chinese Bureau of Engraving and Printing (PBMF) using gravure printing on thick, stiff, hard paper, the stamp measures 22 x 24 mm and features line perforation 14. The 6 cent denomination was intended for domestic letter rates. Part of a series that played a key role in standardizing the Republic’s postal system, it is cataloged under Scott CN-IM 228. Despite the lack of a listing in Yvert et Tellier, its strong color, fresh gum, and mint never hinged state make it a significant collectible from the early Republican period. Estimate "$25 – 35"
