Issued on September 8, 1909, this 3 cent commemorative stamp from the Emperor Hsuan Tung series features the Temple of Heaven and was printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. using gravure printing. While the standard issue appears in blue and orange, this example may exhibit a color deviation incorporating tones of blue, brown, and orange, which could represent an early printing anomaly or ink variation, potentially increasing its philatelic interest. The stamp was part of the Qing Dynasty’s final commemorative issue, honoring the youthful emperor Puyi and symbolizing imperial continuity amid growing calls for reform. With variable perforations and no watermark, the stamp was in circulation until April 1, 1914. It is cataloged as Michel CN-IM 80, Scott CN-IM 132, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM 81, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 166, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 149. Condition Mint hinged, with strong original gum, clear impression, and possibly notable color variation under magnification. Estimate "$85 – 110"
