This pair of colonial stamps from Morocco, issued in 1908, features the celebrated “Type Blanc” allegorical design created by Emile Thomas and Joseph Blanc. Overprinted in Spanish currency as “2 Céntimos” and “4 Céntimos,” these issues were part of the French postal administration’s effort to adapt French stamps for Spanish-speaking areas within Morocco. The stamps display mythological figures representing justice and communication, with winged deities and cherubs surrounding the denomination. Printed by typography with a 14 x 13½ perforation, both stamps are clearly cancelled, likely in Tanger, adding regional authenticity. These overprints represent the earliest colonial adaptation of metropolitan French designs to local currency, and are classified under Michel FR-MA 21 and FR-MA 23, Yvert MA 21 and MA 23, Scott FR-MA 12 and 14, and SG FR-MA 15 and 17. A fine colonial duo combining iconography and political history. Estimate "$30 – 50"
