Issued in 1906 for the French post office in Tchongking (Chongqing), this complete set of three stamps features the allegorical “Type Grasset” design created by renowned Art Nouveau artist Eugène Grasset. Printed by the Imperial Printing Office in Paris, each stamp bears a dual overprint: "Tch’ong K’ing" in Latin script and Chinese characters below, indicating their use within the French postal enclave in Sichuan province. The values include 2 centimes in brown, 5 centimes in green, and 10 centimes in carmine-rose, all denominated in French currency and intended for local and international mail. The stamps are typographed on chamois or colored paper and perforated 14 x 13½. These overprinted colonial issues were essential for identifying the place of origin in French Indochina’s broader postal network and are highly sought after for their historical and aesthetic significance. Each stamp is in mint never hinged condition with full original gum, showing only minor signs of age-related gum toning visible on reverse. Catalogued as Michel FR-IC B36VI, B38VI, B39VI; Scott FR-TCH 18, 20, 21; Yvert FR-TCH 49, 51, 52; SG FR-TCH 18, 20, 21. Estimate 130-180$
