Issued in 1905 as part of the Third London Print of the Coiling Dragon series, this 10 cent blue stamp represents the Qing Dynasty’s final refinements to its imperial postal system before the advent of republican governance. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. using gravure printing, the stamp features the iconic coiling dragon—a traditional emblem of imperial strength and divine authority—set against a finely detailed background. Measuring 22 × 25 mm, this issue includes the Yin-Yang watermark and was produced with variable perforation. The 10 cent denomination was widely used for domestic and foreign letter rates, making it a workhorse in Qing postal history. Circulating until April 1, 1914, it embodies the convergence of tradition and modernization at the twilight of the empire.
