Issued in 1903 by the French Post Office in Tchongking, this 15 centimes stamp features the overprint "TCHONG-KING" alongside the denomination in Chinese characters, applied to a design by Louis-Eugène Mouchon depicting allegorical figures of commerce and classical mythology. Printed in purple and red by typography at the Imperial Printing Office in Paris, the stamp measures 20 x 24 mm and is perforated 14 x 13½. Intended for daily postal use in French-administered areas of China, this issue reflects the economic and cultural exchanges between France and China at the turn of the 20th century. It is listed as Scott TCH 6, Michel FR-IC B22V, Yvert et Tellier FR-TCH 37, and Stanley Gibbons FR-TCH 6. This mint hinged example shows fresh color and intact gum with only light hinge traces.
