This set from 1899 features the definitive Imperial Russian Eagle stamps from the 1894–1904 issue, overprinted with "КИТАЙ" for use in the Chinese treaty ports under Russian administration. The stamps range from 1 kopeck to 10 kopecks, and are presented here in a complete basic set of 12, including two shade variations of the 10 kopeck value. The typographic design includes the imperial double-headed eagle in ornate ovals or shields, with values denoted in Russian kopecks and bold Cyrillic overprint in red or blue. Issued without gum for postal use abroad, the stamps are printed on horizontally laid paper with a clean 14¼ x 14¾ perforation. Used examples like these, with various readable postmarks from Russian postal offices in China, offer postal-historical insight into late 19th-century Russian influence in Asia. While condition varies with hinge remnants and occasional soiling on reverse, the frontals are visually well-preserved. Estimate "$180 – 220"
