This cover from 1898 represents British Victorian postal stationery, bearing two Queen Victoria embossed 1½d red stamps of the "POSTAGE & REVENUE" type, printed in vermilion ink and cancelled with bold barred oval "LONDON" postmarks dated "11 13 98". Addressed to Mrs. W. L. Coleman at "7 Rutland Park, Willesden Green, N.W.", the envelope reflects the late-Victorian urban postal network and the transition into the Edwardian period. The envelope itself is roughly opened at top, with minor edge tears and wear consistent with domestic use. No backstamps or contents are present. An attractive and well-preserved piece of London’s postal history with fine strikes of machine cancellation, of interest both to collectors of British postal stationery and to those studying the evolution of postal tariffs.
