Produced typographically and rouletted 10 on one side with imperforate margins on the others, this stamp reflects the practical limitations and improvisations of treaty port printing in the late Qing period. The design centers on themes of men and transport, emblematic of Hankow’s position as a commercial nexus on the Yangtze River.
