Issued in June 1893 by the Hankow Local Post during the treaty port era, this 5-cent stamp features a typographic design depicting a man carrying a traditional shoulder pole, a common symbol of Chinese labor and transport. The stamp includes the Chinese character 漢 (Han) at the top left, referencing the city of Hankow. Printed via typography on yellowish pink paper, this issue is characterized by a distinctive roulette perforation on the horizontal edges and imperforate vertical sides, measuring 10 x imperforate. The stamp's yellow-green color and utilitarian imagery reflect the function of early local postal services prior to national unification. Thematically centered on transport and daily life, it offers cultural and historical insights into late Qing Dynasty commerce and social conditions. This specimen is mint hinged and well-preserved with clear print and original gum, showing only minimal signs of handling. Estimate "$160 – 190"
