This is a folded stampless letter dated July 5, 1855, sent from Paris to Marseille and addressed to Monsieur A. Estienne. The letterhead is from Maison Boridan, a textile wholesaler based on Place des Victoires in Paris with branches in Roubaix, Reims, and Amiens. The letter, written in elegant brown ink, references the receipt of three money orders and includes a firm tone regarding outstanding debts. It is hand-signed and sealed with red wax, still faintly present on the rear. The address panel shows a crisp black circular datestamp from Paris (5 JUIL 55), along with a striking blue octagonal handstamp of the sender. The script and layout exemplify French mid-19th-century commercial correspondence, with fine calligraphy and business formality. Such folded letters are highly valued for their aesthetic quality and postal markings, particularly when sent by known merchants during the Second Empire period under Napoleon III.
