This is a pre-stamp folded letter sent in 1834 from Narbonne in southern France to Seurre in the Bourgogne region, addressed to Monsieur Cordelier, a banker. The letter is written entirely by hand in brown ink and neatly folded, with a seal tear and partial wax stain visible on the reverse. Signed by G. Chapy, the brief message requests the remittance of thirty-four francs, presumably related to a business or financial transaction. Such correspondence is a representative example of early 19th-century mercantile postal history, when the French postal service relied on manuscript markings and trusted personal networks. The letter survives in very clean condition with legible content and an elegant cursive hand, demonstrating the continued refinement of written business etiquette in the post-Napoleonic period.
