This mint never hinged block of 15 stamps represents the 1949 definitive issue featuring Dr. Sun Yat-sen, printed in Shanghai by Dah Tung Book Co. The stamp was released on January 6, 1949, and is part of the new version series portraying Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China. The portrait, rendered in a fine gravure printing method, is set against a gradient orange background and flanked by inscriptions indicating a face value of 1 Chinese dollar. Measuring approximately 20 x 25 mm and printed without watermark, these stamps were issued without gum, typical for the period’s inflationary issues. The perforation is line 14, and the printing reflects the refined aesthetics and somber tone of the closing years of the Republic's mainland issues. This block is remarkably well-centered with full original perforation and shows no visible flaws on the gumless reverse. Catalog numbers include Michel CN-IM 950, Scott CN-IM 886, Yvert CN-IM 715, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 1152, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 1349. Estimate "$220 – 280"
