China 1949, full mint never hinged sheet of 50 revenue stamps surcharged for postal use, featuring a red overprint of “$2” on the original $50 blue design. Issued during the final phase of the Gold Yuan inflationary currency reforms, the stamp was lithograph printed by Dah Tung in Shanghai and repurposed from tax to definitive use. The design prominently features symbols of modern transport—aircraft, steam locomotive, and passenger ship—representing infrastructure, national modernization, and mobility.
Measuring 25 x 22 mm, the stamp was issued ungummed with varying perforation typical of emergency fiscal issues. Catalogued as Scott IM 915a, Michel CN-IM 986I, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM 749, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 1127, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 1309. This full sheet is in fine condition with strong overprints, full margins, and bright color across all positions. Estimate "$280 – 340"
