Issued on April 28, 1948, this commemorative stamp celebrates the third anniversary of Formosa’s (Taiwan’s) incorporation into China and features the iconic Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei. The design highlights national unity and postwar reconstruction efforts following Japan’s surrender and Taiwan’s return to Chinese governance. Printed in red by the Central Engraving & Printing Works in Peiping using gravure printing, the stamp measures 22 x 25 mm and has line perforation 14. It was released without gum and had a print run of 1.5 million. This example consists of a complete mint never hinged sheet of 40 stamps. It is cataloged as Michel CN-IM 841, Scott CN-IM 787, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM 625, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 1004, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 1194.
