Issued on August 24, 1946, this block of four mint never hinged stamps from Taiwan features a black overprint reading “Restricted for Use in Taiwan” alongside a new denomination of 1 old Taiwanese dollar, surcharged over the original 20 cent value. The base stamp depicts revolutionary leader Huang Xing and is printed in light blue by Commercial Press Ltd., Hong Kong, using a combination of gravure and typography. This issue, from the Martyrs series, was part of the post-war reestablishment of Chinese Nationalist administration in Taiwan following Japanese rule. With no watermark and variable perforations, each stamp measures 23 x 26 mm and reflects a transitional moment in Taiwanese postal history marked by limited use zones and currency reform. The block is well-centered, post office fresh, and in excellent mint never hinged condition. Scott TW20. Estimate "$80 – 100"
