Issued in August 1946, this overprinted block of four stamps from the Republic of China was intended for use exclusively in Taiwan. It features the red orange 50 Dollar 3rd London print of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, produced by De La Rue & Co. Ltd., and surcharged in black with a new denomination of 2 Taiwanese dollars alongside the overprint reading “Restricted for Use in Taiwan.” Printed using gravure with typography for the overprint, this provisional issue reflects the postwar economic transition and currency realignment following Japan’s surrender. Measuring 23 x 26 mm with variable perforation, it was part of the Martyrs Issue series circulated to assert Nationalist control over Taiwan. The block of four is mint never hinged with full original gum, sharp overprints, and vibrant color, showing only light toning on the reverse. Estimate "$95 – 115"
