Issued in July 1945 under Japanese occupation in the Mengkiang region, this 50 cent stamp features the portrait of Dr. Sun Yat-sen with a localized overprint in black denoting usage under the Mengkiang postal authority. Printed in olive by gravure and measuring 22 x 26 mm, the stamp is part of a definitive wartime series repurposed for regional control during the final months of World War II. The overprint served to revalidate existing stock for use within the puppet regime’s territory, reflecting both political control and postal necessity. This block of four is in mint never hinged (MNH) condition with sharp perforations and strong gum, showing uniform centering and vivid color. A scarce multiple from a short-lived occupation authority. Estimate "$95 – 115"
