Issued in 1944 under the Japanese occupation of northern China, this green stamp pair features a red vertical overprint commemorating the fourth anniversary of the Wang Ching-wei regime. Originally denominated at 1 yuan, the overprint revalues each stamp to 18 cents. The design, showing stylized rice, cotton, and hibiscus below the sun emblem, reflects agricultural and nationalistic themes. The issue was produced without watermark using gravure printing, perforated 12.5 x 12, and printed on unwatermarked paper. These stamps were part of a propaganda effort by the Nanking collaborationist government and circulated widely in northern China as both a commemorative and functional postal issue. The stamps are cataloged as Scott NP14, Michel JP-NC 356, Yvert CN-N OJ99, Stanley Gibbons JP-NC 177, and China Stamp Society CN-IM NC206. The offered horizontal mint never hinged pair is in excellent condition with full original gum and strong centering, showing crisp detail and uniform overprint placement. Estimate "$85 – 100".
