Issued under Japanese occupation in Central China, this 1944 memorial issue commemorates the first anniversary of the return of foreign concessions to Chinese control in Nanking. The block contains three mint never hinged stamps, each with a denomination of 3 Chinese dollars. The stamps are printed in orange using gravure printing, with perforation 12 x 12½ and no watermark. Listed as Scott 9N105, Michel JP-CC 98, Yvert CN-OJ 92, and Stanley Gibbons JP-CC 118, the issue is thematically centered on maps and political anniversaries, marking a significant propaganda statement during wartime.
