China 1941, block of 20 mint never hinged stamps from the Japanese-occupied Mengkiang regime, featuring a small-character black overprint applied to the rose violet 2.5 Chinese cents Martyr of the Revolution issue. The base stamp, originally printed by Commercial Press Ltd., Hong Kong, was overprinted in July 1941 for restricted use in the Mengkiang postal region. Printed by gravure on paper with the small multiple "YU" watermark (facing up), the overprint consists of four characters measuring 4 mm high (Type 1).
This issue honors revolutionary martyrs and reflects occupation-era efforts to reassert regional control through postal adaptations. Cataloged as Scott 2N34, Michel JP-MG 43I, and China Stamp Society CN-IM MK45. The block is fresh, with full original gum, strong color, and crisp overprints across all positions.
