This is a 1941 issue from Japanese-occupied China, featuring a large-character overprint reading "Meng Chiang" on the 1 cent orange Martyr of the Revolution stamp, presented here in a full mint sheet of 80 stamps. Printed by Commercial Press Ltd. in Hong Kong, the stamp was produced using gravure printing and bears a small multiple "YU" watermark (upright). It has variable perforation and full original gum, never hinged. The issue was part of daily-use postal emissions by the Mengkiang puppet regime during the Second Sino-Japanese War. The design honors revolutionary martyr Xu Yuanquan and reflects the nationalist iconography of the Republic era. The overprint in bold black characters denotes control by the Japanese-backed Mengkiang government, providing both postal and propaganda functions. As a complete sheet in pristine condition, this item holds historical value related to wartime regional administration and philatelic propaganda. Listed in multiple catalogs: Scott 2N33, Michel JP-MG 42II, Stanley Gibbons JP-MG 53B, China Stamp Society MK109. Well preserved, excellent centering and full margins with sheet numbers visible.
