Issued on November 1, 1941, this overprinted stamp belongs to the Dr. Sun Yat-sen definitive series and was locally surcharged in Fukien province with black characters reading "作7分", representing a new 7-cent face value on the original 8-cent olive green stamp. The stamp features a formal portrait of Sun Yat-sen within a decorative frame that includes the emblem of the Kuomintang, reflecting his central role in Chinese revolutionary history. Printed by Chung Hwa Book Co., this issue was released without watermark and perforated in line format. The present item is a marginal block of four with full original gum, mint never hinged, though it shows noticeable toning on the reverse. The strong, well-centered overprints and preserved perforations make this block a desirable example of a provisional wartime adjustment, illustrating regional responses to inflation and postal necessity during the Republican period. Catalogued as Michel CN-IM 431, Scott CN-IM 484h7, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 618a, and CSS CN-IM 604. Estimate "$120 – 180"
