China 1939, block of nine from the 2nd Hong Kong Chung Hwa printing of the Dr. Sun Yat-sen definitive series, Type III, featuring an 8 Chinese cents denomination in olive green. Printed by Chung Hwa Book Co. using gravure printing with a comb perforation of 12½ and issued without watermark, this type is distinguished by a filled uniform button and continuous upper frame lines. A key wartime issue, these stamps were used extensively throughout Free China during the Second Sino-Japanese War and represent both postal and political resilience.
