Issued on December 5, 1936, this 3 fen stamp from Manchukuo’s 4th definitive series features a detailed architectural depiction of a government building in Hsinking, the capital of the Japanese puppet state. Printed by gravure on paper with silk threads and watermarked with upright Chinese characters, the stamp is perforated comb 13 x 13½ and colored in rich purple brown. Created as part of Manchukuo’s nation-branding effort under Japanese control, the stamp reflects both imperial influence and regional identity. The block of four is mint never hinged with full original gum, strong impressions, and balanced centering. Catalogued as Scott 87, Michel CN-MA 78A, Yvert 77, Stanley Gibbons 83, China Stamp Society MC84, and Sakura 83, this multiple is a clean and scarce example of pre-war northeast Asian postal history.
