This 1933 complete set from the Yunnan provincial overprint series on the Martyrs of the Revolution commemorates a wide array of revolutionary figures in Chinese history. Ranging in denominations from ½ to 50 Chinese cents, these stamps were overprinted for use in Yunnan Province and exhibit finely engraved portraits of prominent freedom fighters and leaders who played pivotal roles in China’s early Republican era. Issued in diverse colors—such as dark brown, red-violet, green, and orange—the stamps were printed by the Chinese Bureau of Engraving and Printing (PBMF) using gravure and line perforated 14. These overprints read “for provincial use only” and were applied to the national Martyrs issue (Sun Yat-sen Second Peking Print types), emphasizing their regional administrative function during a period of provincial postal autonomy. This set is listed as Michel CN-IM-YU 45–56, Scott CN-IM-YU 56–67, Yvert et Tellier CN-YU 43–54, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM-YU 56–67, and China Stamp Society CN-IM YN53–64. Condition VF, mint lightly hinged, with minor gum disturbance consistent with age and usage. Estimate "$340 – 360".
