This complete mint sheet of 60 stamps was issued in 1929 by the provincial government of Yunnan to commemorate the state burial of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China. Each stamp bears an olive green gravure-printed image of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, a symbolic architectural tribute to the revolutionary leader’s enduring legacy. The stamps are overprinted with black Yunnan provincial markings, signifying localized control of postal issuance during a period marked by regional fragmentation and warlord governance. The design captures both solemnity and national reverence, using neoclassical lines to elevate Sun Yat-sen to the status of a political icon. Printed on unwatermarked paper with line perforation 14, the stamps were issued ungummed, as was typical for many regional printings of the time. This issue is catalogued as Michel CN-IM-YU 26, Scott CN-IM-YU 26, Yvert et Tellier CN-YU 26, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM-YU 26, and China Stamp Society CN-IM YN27. Condition: Mint never hinged full sheet of 60 with uniform margins, clean selvage inscriptions, and crisp overprints throughout. Estimate "$180 – 220".
