This beautifully handwritten postcard, sent in 1914 from Korea to Japan, features the 1½ sen pale blue definitive from Japan’s first Tazawa series, known as the “Old Die.” Issued on May 20, 1914, the stamp showcases a chrysanthemum crest and paulownia emblem representing the Japanese Imperial authority, printed in pale blue on blue granite paper using typography with a wavy lines Type 4 watermark (facing upward). Measuring 21 x 26 mm and issued with variable perforation, it reflects Japan’s expansionist postal reach during the colonial administration of Korea. The postcard image depicts the “Forest Garden of Sample Trees” in Korea, with bilingual captioning in English and Japanese.
