This 10 centimes pink stamp was issued in 1906 for the French Post Office in Canton and features the Type Grasset design with a black “CANTON” overprint in both French and Chinese characters. Designed by Eugène Grasset and printed in typography at the Imperial Printing Office in Paris, it measures 20 by 24 mm and is perforated 14 x 13½. The allegorical composition represents estates and mythology, typical of the colonial narrative France employed to emphasize its administrative and economic influence abroad. Catalogued as Scott CAN 35 (Michel FR-IC B39I, Yvert FR-CAN 37, Gibbons FR-CAN 37), this stamp is mint hinged with full original gum and clean overall presentation. It is a well-preserved example of French extraterritorial postal services in Qing-era China. Estimate "$70 – 90"
