China 1905, complete hinged set of German Post Office in China “Germania” issue, overprinted “China” in black on definitive stamps ranging from 1 Chinese cent to 2.5 Chinese dollars. Designed by Paul Eduard Waldraff and printed by the Reichsdruckerei in Berlin using typography, the stamps are comb perforated 14 x 14½ and measure 22 x 26 mm. This set, often referred to as the “King Issue,” features the allegorical figure of Germania crowned with diadem, symbolizing imperial strength and national unity. Issued on October 1, 1905, for use in German treaty ports such as Tientsin and Shanghai, these stamps remained valid until March 16, 1917.
