Beautiful postcard sent within China featuring the 1902 London Print Coiling Dragon 1 cent ochre stamp, Scott 111, with a clear "23 APR" dated cancel from Tientsin (Tianjin), addressed to a French recipient in Peking (Beijing). The stamp, issued during the Qing Dynasty, was printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. using gravure and features the iconic imperial dragon symbolizing authority and power. It is part of the definitive series introduced in 1900–1909. This example is tied to a delicately hand-colored photographic postcard of a Japanese woman in traditional attire holding a parasol—an image reflecting the fascination with East Asian aesthetics at the turn of the century.
The stamp is in ochre, without watermark, and perforation is irregular, typical of this issue. No visible damage to the card, although the stamp shows postal wear consistent with its age and usage. Cultural value lies in the convergence of philately, early photography, and colonial-era international correspondence. Estimate "$85 – 100"
