Issued on January 28, 1898, this 1 cent ochre stamp from the London Print Coiling Dragon series features the imperial dragon motif, symbolizing the authority and unity of the Qing dynasty. Gravure printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd on paper with the upright Yin-Yang watermark, the stamp measures 22 x 25 mm and has variable perforation. This used example bears a legible 1901 cancel from Peking, evidencing early postal usage within the Chinese Imperial Post network. Catalogued as Scott IM99, Michel CN-IM 48, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM 47, Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 109, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 114, this issue remained valid until April 1, 1914 and represents a cornerstone of Qing philately. The stamp is well-centered with strong color and a clean circular postmark. Estimate "$55 – 70"
