This intact sheet of 100 mint never hinged stamps was issued in 1894 during the Spanish colonial rule over the Philippines, then a significant overseas possession of the Spanish Crown. The stamp portrays a young King Alfonso XIII, whose reign began as an infant after the death of his father, Alfonso XII. These newspaper stamps (impresos) were specifically printed for printed matter circulation and bear the inscription “FILIPINAS - IMPRESOS” at the top, with a face value of 5 milésimas de peso. Printed in gray-olive by typography, the design is classic and formal, highlighting Spanish royal iconography and colonial authority. Each stamp measures 21 x 27 mm and is line perforated 14. The sheet margin includes the original numbering and guide marks, indicating its uncut state and high preservation. This piece represents both philatelic and colonial history, showcasing the communication systems employed by imperial Spain across its overseas dominions.
